#VeryShortStories : Kindness
It was the biggest contract they had received in three years. Their hangout in Dharavi now seemed like the United States' situation room. It was intensive planning. The target was a local business tycoon who had meddled in the affairs of another businessman and now had to be dealt with. Like always, Mama did not bother himself with the details. Corpse for cash, his lifelong motto. After a long and meticulous discussion, they decided to break for the day and start getting the logistics in place. Mama assigned his shooters a role each and a deadline... They had no time to waste.
Meanwhile, Mama went to his garage, the original business he had to find his three-year-old boy playing around the equipment. He gazed at the innocence on the child's face and wished he could have such a carefree life back again. Mama was always known to be a sensitive man but the ways of the world had made him a hardened criminal. Despite always wanting to leave the gangster life, there was always something that warped him back to the black market.
As Mama was introspecting, the little one managed to sneak around and get his hands on a moth flying around the garage.
"Babu! No! Kill it!"
"But it hasn't done me any harm..." the little boy replied as he set the moth free.
A business tycoon lived to see another day. A lesson in kindness works even on the most hardened criminals, it seems.

Sudden and surprising turn of events. Made me think of the bromide "Child is the father of Man!"
