Antithesis

Can you imagine a world where the only language is love?
No place kept for hell, just a heaven up above!
How will it be where 'evil' is not even a word?
Envy, greed and gluttony... The sins, simply unheard.

No poverty to crib about, no riches to boast...
Only happy faces living harmoniously across every coast.
Birds chirping with all their might and lions roaring a friendly tune,
A fulfilling abundance amidst every sand dune.

As I float in these merry thoughts, like a dry leaf in a cyclone...
I cannot help but pause and let out a little groan.

Here, I see no drama, no sooty clouds nor any rain,
No need for a spirit or grit to overcome the inevitable pain.
Where are the freezing winters, the quakes or the storms?
Everything so banal and bland, quietly following the norms.

A splatter of black and white, no hues to add some spice...
Is there any point to a world where even lions act as mice?
Isn't it the fear of a low that gives real value to our highs?
Would there be joy in love without the heartbreaking goodbyes?

If there came a world full of good and devoid of bad,
How would you know happiness, if you have never been sad?

  1. Very nicely worded. Captured the early wistfulness well.
